TRIGGER WARNING: Extreme fat hate. Do NOT click the link below unless you can stomach fat hate and shaming.

I sent Tumblr the following email this morning.

‘To whom it may concern,This post needs to be removed immediately.

I know that I am not the first person to report this image, but as of now the tumblr staff has refused to remove it, citing ‘freedom of expression’.

This post is not freedom of expression. This is hate speech. This is taking the picture of someone’s FUNERAL and making fun of someone, a real person who died, based strictly on the size of the coffin.

Your terms of service state that users shall not post content that:

(c) infringes any intellectual property right of another or the privacy or publicity rights of another, (d) is libelous, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harassing, hateful, offensive or otherwise violates any law or right of any third party

This post obviously infringes upon the property right of whoever this photo belongs to. It also infringes upon the right of whoever is in the photo, an innocent family who is mourning the death of a loved one. It is obviously used without permission. It is defamatory, abusive, harassing, AND hateful. How would this family feel if they found out what had been done to this picture?

Staff just recently made a post saying that you are looking into a new policy about self-harm blogs. This post encourages self harm. It has been proven that people who are made to feel shame about their weight or their size are more likely to end up fat, or with an eating disorder. Your refusal to take this post down is pure hypocrisy, plain and simple.

I look forward to your swift action in this matter. Thank you in advance.’

Friends of mine have already reported the image to no avail. I’m hoping that if more people report it, they will actually remove it. If you feel as strongly as I do, please send an email to support@tumblr.com. You can even copy and paste what I wrote, if you so choose!

Thank you guys!

Eliminationist rhetoric from anti-fat trolls is sadly quite common, but exploiting what appears to an actual funeral and the actual mourning of an actual person, this example is especially awful. It represents a not even very implicit threat of death against those who disagree with the OP. I mean, that’s pretty direct. Its disappointing that most don’t take this manner of death threat seriously. Threats of violence are certainly more of an immediate concern, but these kinds of death threats also are also a grave concern and can escalate to explicitly violent rhetoric.
