Fat and the Ivy: FATFATFATFATFATFAT F. A. T. FAT! →

Despite my initial claim on this blog (and twitter, facebook, and real life) I will not be speaking at Hahvahd Harvard tomorrow. The panel on fat activism was cut from the art exhibit and keynote by Judth Shaw to mark Eating Disorder Awareness Week. I’m not entirely sure why the panel was cut or…

getting pretty tired of men objectifying fat women as a fetish and thinking they’re helping
word.
Cue the “OMG, y u take away my boners!” whining from mysogonistic fat admirers refusing to take even a second to process what is being said before getting defensive about it.

Oh, I see I’m late.
DUDES, stop. Just stop. I’m...

So I’ve been seeing things on-line lately that amount to thin derailment regarding fat oppression and fat liberation posts - basically comments like “but this happens to thin people too!” and “everyone’s body is judged like this.” This is a difficult thing to address because on one level, yes body policing is pervasive, and a variety of people get harangued re: whether or not they...
“Claiming someones marriage is against your religion is like being angry at someone for eating a donut because you’re on a diet”
I’ve seen variations of this line a few times today (some variations on the fat associated food) and I find it really problematic. While not quite as bigoted as those who make cracks about banning “fat marriage” to analogize fatness...

Welp! That’s great! Gonna rant now! AS USUAL WHAT ELSE IS NEW
Before he was 8, things were fine and dandy and he’s a happy adorable snotrag!
He isin’t treated any differently and if he is, he’s too young to notice at the time.
He’s 10. He’s talented at creating animation and draws like a pro.
Early primary school; things are fine but he feels a little confused that he’s one...

NOT BLACKFACE. NOT RACIST JOKES.
Nope, it was Chris Rock telling the truth about Hollywood’s racism:
“Chris Rock followed with a racial joke, about black men getting lousy roles even in animated films. It may have been in questionable taste, but it jarred the show closer to...

I just got off the phone with Disney because I wrote them an irate email for the attraction and game called “Habit Heroes”.
And I was told that their attraction is closed for right now so they can make adjustments and whatnot. But that they had a 90% positive feedback from the people who went on it before they closed it down.
Then I asked her how many of those people were fat....
An awesome way to get me to not take seriously an article about fat sexuality is to prominently and uncritically reference A Guy who thinks “You wanting to stick your dick in a fat chick doesn’t end our oppression.” is something fat women aren’t allowed to say to fat admirers and who refuses to get why sexualizing a person without their content is problematic. Or even a thing....

mspauline89 asked: I got a call from a Disney rep a few minutes ago about the Bad Habits exhibit and game. It's just down for retooling, as she put it. But she also said that 90% of the feedback was positive. I asked her how many of the guests were fat, and she didn't have an answer for that. So my question, why is it, in your opinion, that Disney had this grand idea for the Bad Habits Gallery?

westofawhitehouse asked: I don't know if this is permanent, but I checked the habit heroes website and disney has apparently taken it down "for maintenance". Congratulations on a successful smackdown. :)

Be careful with the site’s opt-in check boxes, but any way to get attention to this isn’t a bad thing.
Yes, the Paula/Snacker Photo had a typo. Its fixed on the original post, so try reblogging from there. I was obviously too excited by Snacker to catch the error.
